All but two of the rafters were able to attach to the studs of the new wall. The two that were left, they just left hanging with no support. They were free floating and they resulting movement caused the leak in the roof. I went into the attic and added the support and cut off the rafters so they would sit on the new supports. When they put the siding on, they just sided over that area and so all we had between us and the outside was some vinyl siding. It did not keep the heat in very well.
