Kellie saw a unique way of doing a floor covering on Pinterest. It involved using brown paper. You would crumble it up and then lay it out flat again. You mix half water and half white glue and then dip the paper in that and lay it on the floor as flat as possible. You could then stain the crinkles in the paper to bring out the texture and make it look even better. Then you would lay down about 3 coats of polyurethane over it to protect the paper and make a durable floor coat. In the kitchen we chose to use cookbook pages instead of crinkled brown paper. It came out looking pretty cool. Check it out in the Kitchen Update photo album.

We are painting the kitchen cabinets a light blue this weekend. I wanted to post some pix for you to see, but the website is not letting me today. I will try again tomorrow. This brings the Kitchen to the 'almost done' stage.

It has been a while since my last update. The kitchen is up and running. Both the range top and the built in oven are working. I hooked up the dishwasher and the water line to the refrigerator. We now have a working ice maker again. The kitchen stuff has now found a home and is back to a working kitchen again.

The kitchen faucet has come in and has been installed. We can now get water from somewhere other than the bathroom tub. Out faucet is so cool. Pictures coming as soon as I take them. I installed the air conditioning unit in the back porch so it also will cool the kitchen so that we can stand to be in the kitchen again. Most of the kitchen is still in boxes but will get sorted and found a home real soon. We are looking forward to being able to use the countertops soon.

We now have a sink and range installed in our kitchen. I need to run the electrical to the built-in oven and the range yet. Our kitchen faucet had not come in yet but should be here in about a week. All of the cabinets and countertops have been installed. I finished with the electrical outlets today. We now have a total of 6 outlets in our kitchen. I still need to run water to the dishwasher and to where the refrigerator will be when we bring it over from the other house.
